Hot Spot: The Members-Only Club at Kettner's
London stalwart Kettner's has recently launched an exclusive members-only club upstairs. Originally opened by Napoleon III's personal chef, Auguste Kettner, the private apartment on Romilly Street has been beautifully designed, taking inspiration from the sultry interiors of a typical French film director's den -- think sexy casting-type sofas, striking grand pianos and a jaw-dropping drinks display. Even more glam is the multilevel spot's "private secret door" entrance, accessible via Greek Street, from which the likes of Edward VII and Oscar Wilde used to enter. Hungry? Head chef Rufus Wickham has developed a traditional club menu of tasty treats, including a mouthwatering selection of gourmet open-face sandwiches, a homemade Kettner's hamburger, even an extensive pudding bar. Drinks don't disappoint, either, with a well-constructed list of classic and Champagne cocktails that are sure to make your night sparkle. Entertaining some serious A-listers? Book one of the private rooms, which have names like Cabinet Particulier, The Studio and Tête a Tête. kettners.com.
