This Polynesian-style rum bar from the folks behind Horsefeather aims to create, for better or for worse, “an experiential narrative of being marooned in a savage tropical jungle.” There will be more than 150 rums on the back bar, and the decor will include a real airplane fuselage.

The SoMa-based purveyor of fried chicken sandwiches—including a notable spicy Nashville-style option (pictured)—expands to the old Melt location near the UC Berkeley campus.

Bardo Lounge & Supper Club
ETA: July 2018
The former Michel Bistro spot will transform into a midcentury lounge with an extensive cocktail program. The Michel chefs will stay on, replacing the bistro’s lineup of French classics with a menu inspired by American dinner parties of the 1960s. Expect deviled eggs, shrimp cocktail, and the like.
