The Top Five acts not named Metallica, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Jack White and Foo Fighters at Outside Lands

Outside Lands announced their lineup this morning, and while the headliners land more on the Bridge School Benefit side of the age spectrum, there’s still a plethora of great, not-quite-as-ripe bands who will be playing throughout the festival. Here are the top five under-the-radar bands not to be missed this August.

MSTRKRFT You’ve got to love bands that try to conceal its name (pronounced "Mastercraft") by removing the vowels. Still, MSTRKRFT's single "Heartbreaker" is a legitimate dance tune. The Canadian electronic duo say they've tried to make "festival weapons" on their newest album, akin to tossing "a million hatchets into the audience." You'll have to go see them to figure out what that means.

Portugal. The man The chirpy, easy going tunes from this Portland-based but Alaskan-born band are perfect for a sunny summer afternoon, and a glass of Pinot from Wine Lands.

City and Colour Canadian Dallas Green is sure to serenade the ladies with his crooning voice and gentle guitar. Prepare to swoon.

Yacht The pop-y duo’s newest album, Shangri-La, has been raved about by critics and fans alike. It’s like Of Montreal with twinges of their Portland- and Marfa, Texas-homelands.

Animal Kingdom With a producer who’s backed both Fleet Foxes and The Shins,  this London trio is bound to have the same atmospheric sound that resonates so well at a live show.

Tickets go on sale Thursday, April 19th at noon. Snag yours here. The festival will run August 10-12.
